Luxembourg Financial Group

LFG are a structured products boutique and specialist asset manager whose flagship offering, the Liquid Alpha UCITS Platform (LAUP), allows hedge fund managers to create UCITS compliant versions of their offshore funds.

LFG has earned an enviable reputation for having quickly won business from several blue chip funds, establishing LAUP as a “transformational wrapper for the hedge fund industry”.  Like the UCITS funds it sells, a large part of LFG’s success stems from a commitment to transparency.  In an industry that’s still trying to rid itself of links with Madoff type fraud, it’s a refreshing approach.

LAUP was set up to offer all the advantages of a hedge fund whilst eliminating concerns about liquidity, transparency and fees and making funds accessible to institutional investors.  LFG approached Kurtosys during a search for a communications partner who could bring alive their commitment to transparency using the latest digital communication tools.

Having been acquired by UBS early in 2011, growth remains firmly on LFG’s agenda and they needed to select a partner who could act as a “one stop shop” for all their digital needs, laying the foundations of a strategic relationship that will evolve as LFG grows.

Situation

Transparency is one of the key strengths of LAUP so establishing a web presence that demonstrated that commitment was a key priority.  LFG wanted to re-brand their offering and introduce new functionality such as interactive charting tools.  Improving client communication was of fundamental importance but so was creating a process that increased business efficiency and could easily grow alongside the business.

LFG wanted a provider who could span the whole range of digital communication tools, a vendor who could help drive efficiency via the implementation of a content management system, support delivery through web design expertise and offer the vision to extend LFG’s offering mobile and iPad apps.

Via Kurtosys Web and Kurtosys Data Manager, Kurtosys could offer the right mix of tactical support and strategic vision and, after an extensive market review, were selected to create the new LAUP website.

Solution

Kurtosys assembled a project team comprising web designers, data specialists and project management support and, together with LFG, quickly agreed the scope and objectives of the new LAUP website.

Clear and concise communication from both sides allowed prompt creation and approval of design ideas, a time saving that proved critical to delivery when the UBS acquisition impacted on LFG’s timelines.

Kurtosys’ wealth of data mining experience was invaluable as Kurtosys Data Manager was deployed to seamlessly pull in the facts and figures required to support the new, interactive website.  Simultaneously the foundations were put in place for Kurtosys Web, an integrated content management system.
LFG has seen impressive growth since launch and this is set to continue so building a content management system that can easily be updated and enlarged was critical to the project’s overall success.

Kurtosys Web will not only allow future funds to be added onto the LAUP website quickly, it will save valuable time and resources by minimising the effort required to manage content on an ongoing basis, realising significant cost benefits over time as resources are channelled into growing the business instead.

LAUP

The LAUP website, which offers interactive charting, fund information, news, video updates and access to marketing documents and factsheets, is an impressive start but it is really just the beginning as LFG embrace digital tools to significantly enhance client communications.  Future developments include a review of LFG’s KiiD and factsheets and even the potential for an iPad app.
